Dear Brothers & Sisters,
Our pension plan, the American Federation of Musicians-Employers Pension Fund, along with hundreds of other multi-employer pension plans, recently entered “critical and declining” status, as defined by government regulators. This means that, in order to preserve payments to future participants, current and future pensioners could face reduced benefits, benefits that they counted on for a dignified and secure retirement.
However, the Butch Lewis Act (Senate Bill 2254), passed by the House and now in conference in the US Senate, could be a way to secure protection for pensions like ours. It is imperative that all Local 1000 members contact their Senators immediately and express their hope that those Senators will support this important legislation. ICSOM (the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians) has prepared a wonderful 2-click form that will send a pre-composed email to both your Senators. Please take a minute…right now…to click here https://p2a.co/9VweQHp and help yourself and your fellow Union brothers and sisters. Please do not put this off. A vote could come at any time.
Thank you for your support.
Solidarity Forever!
