I'm an old time and folk musician from Southwest Virginia. My music is a consistent mix of regional and originals reflecting the culture and experience of living in Appalachia. I draw inspiration from well known regional artists such as The Carter Family and Dock Boggs and also from my family's experience involved with the coal mining industry. I perform as a solo artist, in a duo with Sam Gleaves, and with the Empty Bottle String Band. I also teach private lessons, as a adjunct professor at Mountain Empire Community College, and as an instructor at my local Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) program. I also work as a square dance caller.
