Elizabeth Curry is as committed to playing the upright bass as she is to meditation, human connection, anti-colonialism and creating gourmet meals in the back of the tour van. Not only is Elizabeth tasteful and skilled in her playing, she brings a vitality and energy to her performances that leave audiences with a thrumming in their solar plexus. Elizabeth’s talent is grounded in more than a decade of touring experience, six years of work with the Regina Symphony Orchestra, a Bachelors of Music and a Masters of Interactive Media and Performance. Her dedication to this path was formed in a household that danced to Pyotr Tchaikovsky, raised fists with Buffy Sainte-Marie, and was moved by Leonard Cohen. Elizabeth’s reverence for each musician she accompanies – from Saskatchewan chanteuse Belle Plaine to Toronto’s rabble-rouser Annabelle Chvostek – is evident in the attentiveness she gives to each song and in her capacity to support each show uniquely. Elizabeth is the sidekick that every superhero wants.
