Are you going to be at the Folk Music Ontario Conference in Mississauga, Thursday, Oct. 19th – Sunday, Oct. 22nd? Local 1000 will be there! Here is what we will be up to:
MEMBER GATHERING
If you are planning on eating at the hotel on Saturday night, perhaps we can all dine together. Vice President from Canada Eve Goldberg invites all Local 1000 members to join her at dinner at 5 pm on Saturday in the hotel restaurant. This will be an informal chance to hang out, ask questions, talk about the union, and connect with fellow members.
Please RSVP to vicepresidentcanada@local1000.org so we know how big a table to get (but if you don’t RSVP feel free to come say “hi” and we will make room for you if we can).
FMO SONGSWAP
Eve hosts a songswap in the hotel lobby on Friday afternoon from 3 pm – 4:30. Come sing a song by a fellow FMO member, or a fellow Canadian, or a song that a fellow Canadian would like (in that order of priority).
FMO MARKETPLACE
Local 1000 and the Canadian Federation of Musicians will have a table in the FMO Marketplace — please stop by and say hi if you can— and pick up your very own Local 1000 sticker.
Message from Local 1000 Member Si Kahn about Musicians United at FMO
Musicians United To Protect Bristol Bay (which was co-founded by Local 1000 member Si Kahn) will be at FMO as well. We’d like to meet with as many of our current and prospective members as possible, and to get your help in thinking through our evolving Canadian strategy.
Here’s how you can connect with us:
1) Come by the Musicians United booth at the FMO Marketplace in the Dundas Room:
FRIDAY 9:00 – 10:30 AM, 3:30 – 6:00 PM
SATURDAY 3:30 – 6:00 PM
2) Send a text to Paul Nagle at 347-855-1502 now or stop by the booth when you get to FMO to set up a time to meet with him to find out in more detail about what Musicians United is doing in Canada.
3) Join us for Si Kahn’s Official Showcase at 10:15 pm Friday evening in the Mavis Room.
4) Come to the workshop on “Music As Activism” at 3:30 pm Friday in Ontario A.
