Protect & organize your instruments & gear!

image

What is it?

GearTrack is an online musical instrument registry that aims to deter theft and recover stolen instruments through volume registration. We aim to be the first stop for resellers, used instrument buyers, and law enforcement in verifying an instrument’s status.

In addition to stolen instrument alerts to our WatchDog community of around 6000, GearTrack also offers the ability to catalog, organize, and export gear lists. We store the information securely and privately in the cloud so it’s available anytime, anywhere. You can export the list to a spreadsheet with one click. Need a gear list for a venue, festival or border crossing? We got it.

Learn more about the site and our first instrument recovery story here.

How Much?

GearTrack is always free for stolen instruments and up to 5 pieces of gear. Our Pro Upgrade allows unlimited uploads and the ability to list items for sale in our classified section.

Want to see how it works? Just register here using the code MD13 for a Pro Upgrade VIP Pass. Unlimited uploads! Winning!

How do I start?
Just register (with the code above), verify your email, and you’re ready to start adding gear. Every instrument has its own listing with unique specs. You can also upload unlimited photos of your main instruments, featuring any special characteristics that would help identify it.

Have a big list of items already in a spreadsheet or text doc? I’m happy to assist with a back-end upload while we are developing our CSV upload feature. Just email me at [email protected].

Questions?
I’m an email away. Don’t hesitate to reach out to Molly Driessen ([email protected], 615-400-0125).

Here are a few tips to keep your gear safe:

If you’ve never been the victim of instrument theft, chances are you know someone who has. Here are a few tips to keep your gear safe from GearTrack (www.gear-track.com), an online instrument registry committed to deterring theft & aiding in recovery.

1. Take It In – Vehicle break-ins are one of the most frequent theft stories we hear.

2. Insure It – Don’t assume that your instruments are included in your homeowner’s policy – if you’re traveling or have ever earned a dollar with your ax, it may not be covered. The AFM offers some great tips & deals on instrument insurance

3. Document it – Create your own paper-trail should the worst happen.  Minimally, you’ll want detailed photos and serial numbers. Put these details in a safe place away from gear & other valuables (laptops get stolen, too).

4. Mark it- Place a sneaky hidden ID in your instrument (especially if it doesn’t have a serial number) in a place thieves wouldn’t think to look. Do the same with your case.

5. Recovery It- Somebody stole your gear. What now?

  • Gather Your Docs & File A Police Report
  • Make & Distribute A Flyer
  • Check Online Used Retailers
  • Reach Out To Other Players through forums & online communities
