AFM Emergency Relief for Hurricane Victims
If you were affected by Hurricanes Fiona or Hurricane Ian, there may be limited assistance available through the AFM Emergency Relief Fund (Canadians affected by Hurricane Fiona, this includes you!).
You must be an AFM member in good standing who was impacted by a hurricane and reside in or have been employed as a musician in areas designated by FEMA as Federal Disaster Areas for Individual Assistance (or in the case of Canadians, in an area where a provincial state of emergency was declared). Any loss must be a loss that is not covered by insurance and must be fully documented when the member makes an application.
For consideration, you must have suffered one of the hardships listed below as a result of a hurricane that that is not reimbursable by insurance.
1. Uninsured loss of damage to home
2. Loss of employment for three weeks or longer
3. Need to relocate because of loss of damage to home or loss of employment not covered by insurance
You can download the application here: AFM Emergency Relief Fund Application.
Once you have completed the application, please submit it directly to Richard at the Local 1000 office. The Local will submit the completed application on your behalf to the AFM New York office.
If you have questions, Our Canadian Vice President Arthur McGregor is willing to help you with your application: vicepresidentcanada@local1000.org
